What it is
reactive resume is a standalone resume builder — free, open source, and officially promised to stay free forever. It joins the DSH ecosystem through tags and can also adapt to other AI agent tools, but the main thing is a complete resume product that works on its own without depending on DSH.
The most basic usage requires no account registration: open the official web app and start building. If you want full control, you can deploy the entire application on your own machine.
What it can do
- 15 templates: supporting both A4 and Letter paper sizes
- Live preview as you type
- Drag and drop to reorder resume sections, with any block customizable
- Colors, fonts, and spacing are all adjustable
- Export to PDF, JSON, and DOCX
- AI integration: can connect to OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude
- Multiple languages, dark mode, and sharing your resume via a unique link
- Import from the JSON Resume format
The project is written in React and TypeScript, with data stored in PostgreSQL — a thoroughly mainstream tech stack.
How compatible it is with DSH
It has the lightest integration of the five: it enters the DSH ecosystem through tags, rather than adding an execution layer to DSH or treating DSH as its underlying engine. You can think of it as a standalone resume tool that DSH lists and that can be invoked within DSH workflows. If you want to enhance the text content, you can use one of the AI endpoints it supports, but that requires you to provide your own API key — building a basic resume needs no extra dependencies at all.
Who it's for
- Job seekers who don't want to be charged by commercial resume sites and don't want to be locked into templates
- People who care about privacy, want to self-host, and don't want their resume data leaving their own server
- Teams or career services: building their own resume service on top of the open-source version
Self-hosting is easy: there are official prebuilt Docker images for both AMD64 and ARM64 architectures, and docker compose brings it up. The project recently migrated repositories; the code now lives at reactive-resume/reactive-resume, while the image name on Docker Hub is still the old one — don't pull the wrong thing when deploying.

Why it's recommended
It's a completely different kind of tool from the first three, solving a need as specific as it gets: making a resume. It made the list and reached No. 4 on the strength of being open source, free, self-hostable, and non-tracking, plus 15 templates and optional AI endpoints. If all you want is a resume tool that costs nothing, requires no sign-up, and leaves your data under your own control, just use it — there's no need to keep shopping.
