dshworks/dsh-watch

Project Overview

dsh-watch is a purpose-built plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH), created exclusively to add background stream monitoring capabilities to DSH's native job subsystem. To install it, users run the command dsh plugin --profile <profile-name> add @dshworks/dsh-watch, which requires pnpm to be available on the system’s PATH. It supports two types of watch sources: running commands that are spawned once, and existing or pending files to tail. Each watch is treated as a first-class background job within DSH, so users can manage it with DSH's built-in job commands like job_list, job_output, and job_kill.

This plugin is designed for users who need to run unattended long-term monitoring tasks on DSH, such as tracking application error logs or waiting for a build process to output a ready signal. After declaring watch configurations in the DSH profile, the plugin runs as a lightweight daemon that stays idle when no matching content is found, consuming almost no system resources. When new matching lines are detected, it batches them into a single notice to avoid excessive wakeups, then sends the notice to wake the idle DSH agent for processing.

The plugin is released under the permissive MIT license, meaning it is free to use, modify, and distribute for both personal and commercial purposes. It has several documented limitations that users should be aware of before use: it uses polling instead of system-level inotify or kqueue interfaces, so latency below the poll interval is not possible. It also does not support resuming watches across DSH restarts, any existing watches are terminated when the current DSH session ends, and stderr from command sources cannot be filtered separately from stdout. All these limitations are clearly documented in the project’s README for reference.

dsh-watch

English | 中文

Put a watch on a stream. The agent gets woken by what it says — even while idle. Even with nobody there.

The stock jobs subsystem says when work finishes. dsh-watch says when something speaks: arm a listener on a command or a growing file, and new lines arrive as filtered, batched, byte-bounded notices.

Then take the human out. Declare the watches in profile config, mount the daemon, and the agent boots, idles at zero cost, and wakes for weeks on whatever its streams say.

ci npm powered by dsh license: MIT

A terminal running dsh --profile watcher: the daemon comes up, reports Standing by, sits idle spending nothing, then hears 53 newly published repositories at once and logs the eleven it kept, each with the dshworks repo it belongs in

Install

dsh plugin --profile web add @dshworks/dsh-watch
dsh --profile web

dsh plugin forwards to pnpm, so pnpm must be on PATH. Nothing else to configure — the watch tool is available in the next session.

Needs dsh 0.1.7 or later (the 0.1.7 and 0.2.0 lines). dsh checks the plugin's harness peer ranges before it installs anything, so an older host refuses it up front instead of loading a plugin written for another API.

The tool

watch(source: "command", command: "npm run dev", pattern: "error|warn|Ready", label: "dev")
→ Watch armed (watch-1) on command: npm run dev.

# …the agent keeps working. When the dev server logs "Ready in 130ms",
# a notice wakes it:
[watch dev · watch-1] 1 line:
Ready in 130ms
