DSH-Code is a terminal-based coding interface bundle built exclusively for DeepSeek Harness (DSH). It is built on top of the official @deepseek-ai/dsh-base and reuses all core DSH infrastructure, including agent scheduling, session management, tool invocation, permission controls, and the sandbox environment. It retains DSH’s full plugin architecture and adds a terminal-native workflow optimized for coding tasks, with all core runtime logic still governed by DSH’s core services and configurations. To install and run DSH-Code, you need Node.js version 22.19 or later, or any Node.js release 24 and newer, paired with the developer preview version of the DSH CLI.

DSH-Code is built for developers who prefer working entirely from the terminal. It supports the full lifecycle of a coding workflow, from creating new sessions, resuming past sessions, and forking new working branches from historical nodes. It includes searchable histories for both sessions and prompts, and each session can use an independent agent preset to match different task requirements. Users can choose between presets for general coding, minimal lightweight work, custom workflows, and more. All core capabilities of DSH, including models, tools, and persistent sessions, are accessible directly from this terminal interface.

DSH-Code is released under the permissive open source MIT license. It can be installed via npm or downloaded as a pre-built tarball from GitHub Releases, and includes a built-in updater that checks for new versions on npm. Old session logs are automatically migrated to the new format without altering the original stored data, so users do not need to manually handle migration. It supports delegating tasks to external agents like Claude Code and Codex CLI, and can pair with the tmux context plugin for additional functionality. Since DSH is still in developer preview, DSH-Code is updated regularly to match changes to DSH’s plugin interface.

1. Project overview

DSH-Code is a terminal coding interface for DeepSeek Harness (dsh). It is composed as an out-of-tree bundle on top of the official @deepseek-ai/dsh-base and uses the same Agent, Session, tool, command, skill, permission, sandbox, context-compaction, and plugin services as the Harness Web UI.

DeepSeek Harness registers models, tools, storage, policies, and interfaces as plugins through Cordis. Durable session events record the information required to restore conversations and runtime state. DSH-Code preserves that architecture while adding a terminal workflow suited to coding tasks. The interface follows terminal conventions familiar to developers, while runtime behavior remains governed by DSH services and configuration.
