dsh-reference-checker is a native plugin built exclusively for DeepSeek Harness that adds reference authenticity checking capability to the DSH agent. It supports parsing multiple file formats including PDF, BIB, TEX, TXT and MD, and checks each reference against three public bibliographic indexes: Crossref, OpenAlex and arXiv. It returns four statuses for each reference and generates corrected citations that match the original input format, ready to be inserted directly back into the original paper. By default, it checks the first 50 references, with a hard upper limit of 200, and it does not support scanned PDFs that have no extractable text layer. Users should note that a not_found status does not equal plagiarism, as many older or internal publications are not indexed by the three public data sources.
