DSH Prompt Rail is a native plugin built exclusively for DeepSeek Harness, that adds a compact vertical quick-jump rail to the DSH web conversation view. Each mark on the rail corresponds to one loaded ordinary user prompt. When you hover your cursor over a mark or focus it with your keyboard, it displays a preview of the prompt, and clicking the mark scrolls the conversation view directly to that prompt. The rail stays vertically centered next to the session sidebar, and automatically excludes non-user prompt rows like assistant responses, tool calls, commands, and injected context. Even a one-prompt conversation will render a single mark correctly.

This plugin is designed for anyone who works with long DSH conversation sessions and needs to jump between user prompts quickly. In default state, each mark has a 10px high click hit area, and its visible default form is an 8px by 3px light line. When you hover or focus a mark, it becomes 28px wide and dark, while nearby marks taper in width to 20px, 14px, and 10px, creating a clear visual hierarchy. After you click a mark, the selection is recorded; when the pointer leaves the rail, all marks reset to default length except the selected one, which stays dark.

To install the plugin, clone or copy this repository into the plugins directory at the root of your local DeepSeek Harness checkout. Then, for Windows, run the provided batch file .\plugins\dsh-prompt-rail\install-and-restart.bat; for macOS or Linux, run node ./plugins/dsh-prompt-rail/compat/install.mjs then restart DSH with pnpm dsh web. You must keep the plugins/dsh-prompt-rail directory after installation for the plugin to continue working. Pre-built files are committed to the lib/ directory so no build step is required for regular use, and the project is released under the open source MIT license with no additional restrictions.

DSH Prompt Rail

Prompt Rail is a compact vertical quick-jump rail for the DeepSeek Harness Web conversation view. One mark represents one loaded ordinary user prompt. Hover or keyboard focus shows its preview; clicking scrolls to that prompt.

Behavior

The rail stays vertically centered beside the session sidebar.
Every mark has a 10px high hit slot, while its default visible mark is an 8px by 3px light line.
Hover/focus makes the current mark 28px wide and dark; nearby marks taper to 20px, 14px, and 10px.
Clicking records the selected prompt. When the pointer leaves, all marks return to their default length while the selected mark stays dark.
Assistant, tool, command, steering, and injected-context rows are excluded. A one-prompt conversation still renders one mark.

Install

Clone or copy this repository into the Harness root plugins directory:

Then open a terminal in the deepseek-harness root and run:

Keep the plugins/dsh-prompt-rail directory after installation.

Development

The development layout expects sibling checkouts:

Then run:

pnpm run check

lib/ is committed because profile installation loads the prebuilt Host and browser files without running package build scripts.

Release checklist

Add an exact compatibility patch for every supported pre-slot Harness revision.
Run pnpm run check and exercise node compat/install.mjs --apply-only in a clean matching checkout.
Commit source, lib/, compat/, README files, screenshot, and lockfile.
Push a v0.1.0 tag and create a GitHub Release from that tag.
State the compatible Harness versions and revision hashes in the release notes.
