To install it, you first need to have Node.js version 22.19 or newer and the DSH CLI installed globally via npm, then run the dsh plugin add command to install it to a new profile.

Once installed, you can launch a new DSH TUI session in your current working directory with a simple dsh command, or resume an existing saved session by passing the session ID to the --resume flag. It supports streaming model output and reasoning rendered as Markdown, collapsible tool call cards, built-in approval dialogs, path auto-completion for file references, and a suite of configurable slash commands to manage models and sessions. A standing todo panel, context pressure and token usage status bar, and customizable color themes are all included out of the box to tailor the experience to your preferences.

dsh-tui is under active development and targets the pre-release release candidate line of DSH, so users should expect occasional breaking changes until upstream DSH stabilizes. It is distributed under the open-source MIT license, with the original TUI code recovered from the DeepSeek Harness repository history and upstream copyright preserved. You can use it with DeepSeek's official cloud API or self-host a local DeepSeek-compatible endpoint on your own hardware, which requires only a simple one-line configuration change to your DSH settings file, no extra steps needed.

An interactive terminal (TUI) front door for DeepSeek Harness agents — a Claude Code / Codex-style chat interface in your terminal, installed as an out-of-tree dsh plugin bundle. Built on @earendil-works/pi-tui.

It composes over the official @deepseek-ai/dsh-base bundle, so the whole plugin ecosystem — shell and filesystem tools, skills, subagents, workflows, sandbox approvals — is the same one the official web surface uses. Nothing is forked.

Install

Requires Node ^22.19 || >=24 and the dsh CLI (npm i -g @deepseek-ai/dsh@next).

To track the repo instead of the npm release, use add github:dsh-tui/dsh-tui. Git-hosted plugins build on install via their prepare script, which pnpm blocks until you allow it: if that add fails, append the key it prints under allowBuilds in ~/.dsh/profiles/tui/pnpm-workspace.yaml and re-run —

Set DEEPSEEK_API_KEY in your environment (or a .env in the launch directory or $DSH_HOME).
