NixKits is a Nix Flake-formatted collection of software packages, patches, NixOS modules, and AI coding assistant skills for the Nix and NixOS ecosystem. For the DSH ecosystem specifically, NixKits includes custom native plugins and agent presets. These include dsh-nixos-shell which integrates NixOS scenario capabilities, dsh-api-balance which displays API usage and balance, and multiple agent presets like NixOS Mode and Maintenance Mode. All DSH components are installed declaratively via the Nix package manager, and agent presets are automatically written to DSH’s preset directory, so they are ready to use immediately after installation.

NixKits also includes dozens of skills for AI coding assistants, and these skills are primarily targeted at Chinese-speaking users, with all documentation written in Simplified Chinese. The entire project is released under the open source MIT license. Patches are delivered as overlays that modify upstream nixpkgs packages, so they are not included in the binary cache, and projects that dynamically track upstream releases cannot have their hashes cached.
