DSH WorkBuddy Expert is a community-maintained MIT-licensed Web plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH) that bridges local experts from the WorkBuddy desktop client into DSH sessions. It ships a bundle-manifest and targets two DSH hosts with separate profiles: the DeepSeek Harness Electron desktop app (profile=desktop, installed via the in-app Plugins panel using the Git source github:pbwheel/dsh-workbuddy-expert), and the terminal-hosted dsh web runtime (profile=web, installed with dsh plugin --profile web add github:pbwheel/dsh-workbuddy-expert from the default branch). The plugin uses zero build steps and depends only on the host's own schema factory @deepseek-ai/schemastery pinned at 3.18.4; a prerequisite is that WorkBuddy is already installed locally and at least one expert has been summoned from its Expert Center.

The standard workflow begins in WorkBuddy's Expert Center where the user summons experts so they land on disk under ~/.workbuddy/plugins/marketplaces/experts/plugins. Inside the plugin, the Settings → WorkBuddy Experts page read-only scans that source directory, presents a searchable card market, and on Install performs an export of the chosen expert — including a sanitised role.md, the skills tree, optional avatar PNG, and a .expert-source.json fingerprint — into the standard folder ~/.dsh/experts/<id>/. In any chat, the expert capsule next to the input box opens a headshot list; selecting an expert swaps the role description and skills on the next request boundary without dropping history, while mid-flight turns are queued so streaming output is never interrupted. The CLI commands /expert and /expert <name> list or switch experts; new sessions can pick an expert up-front with no pending state, and the picker auto-refreshes via a file watcher when experts appear or disappear on disk.

Configuration is exposed through the DSH 0.2 Config form model with three keys: sourcePath (the WorkBuddy scan root, defaults to the path above, hot-reloadable via the host's volatile channel without remount), roots (optional additional discovery roots that must carry explicit trust: user), and dshHome (overrides $DSH_HOME or ~/.dsh, requiring a remount). Compatibility is gated to DSH >=0.2.0-rc.2 <0.3.0 via both engines.dsh and peerDependencies, with version checks at install and launch. Source directories may be saved while missing and recover automatically when present, fingerprints trigger incremental re-scans, and a manual Refresh button forces a full re-scan. After editing src/ or package.json users must restart the Electron app or dsh web because bundles are read at startup; edits limited to client/client.js only need a browser hard reload to take effect.
