dsh-vps-manager is a native DSH plugin whose entire identity is built around DeepSeek Harness: the repo name, the npm package name, the bundle-manifest entry, and the README all target DSH as the sole runtime, with a hard badge requirement of DeepSeek Harness ≥ 0.1.5-rc.2 and a GitHub Actions workflow called dsh-compat.yml that runs a smoke install against a real DSH web app on the project's three release channels every six hours. Installation is done from inside DSH itself, either by searching dsh-vps-manager in the DSH plugin market or by running dsh plugin add dsh-vps-manager in the DSH terminal, after which DSH must be restarted and at least one machine added under Settings → VPS Manager. The plugin runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, works in both DSH Desktop and the dsh web CLI variant, and supports several computers pointing at the same server concurrently, sharing one execution mechanism across the board with queued changes per machine, automatic config backup before edits, server-side restore hooks before firewall or SSH changes, and a persistent audit log of every action.

The day-to-day workflow has two shapes. The first is a set of 21 zero-token /vps- slash commands that skip the model entirely: status checks, common software installs, and a reboot that polls until the machine comes back, so the user pays no model tokens for the cheap reads. The second is VPS mode, toggled from a button in the conversation header, which binds that single conversation to a specific server so the assistant inside it can perform remote tasks under controlled rules; each conversation owns its own binding, which means one window can be operating the server while another keeps working on local code in parallel. Inside the conversation the plugin also exposes a Files page for upload, download and edit with backup plus validation, a one-glance Status page whose rules surface "needs attention" verdicts on a read-only collection script, and a real xterm.js terminal running over ssh -tt where top, vim and menu scripts behave normally, with red, yellow and green buttons to end, minimize and maximize the panel and automatic resume after a disconnect.

Dependencies are deliberately light: Node.js ≥ 22.13 is required, there are zero native modules to compile, and the license is MIT, bundling only xterm.js 6.0.0 with addon-fit 0.11.0 (also MIT) under lib/vendor/xterm/. The shipped test suite contains 294 cases that use a local sh -s to stand in for a real sshd and additionally, on a host with DSH Desktop installed, verify tool definitions, skill fields and approval outcomes against DSH's own dsh-tools, dsh-skill and dsh-user-approval, including whether the conversation notice the plugin injects matches the host session format. On every push, GitHub-hosted Windows (2022 and 2025, using the in-box OpenSSH) and Linux runners each connect to a real sshd and replay the full user path: password-based machine add, slash-command run, remote task, Files page edits, terminal open and resize, and key revocation on uninstall. The only first-run caveat is operational: the user types the SSH password exactly once when adding a machine, after which everything switches to key-based auth and the same machine can be managed from several computers simultaneously with audit logging enabled out of the box.
